Pisac

Cusco and the Sacred Valley

Pisac guards the eastern entrance to the Sacred Valley. High above the town, curved Inca terraces sweep around the mountainside up to a ridge of temples, houses and one of the largest known Inca cemeteries.

The town below is known for its craft market, busiest on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Visiting

  • Drive up, walk down. Take a taxi to the upper entrance and walk down through the terraces to the town, about 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • Go early. Tour groups arrive mid morning.
  • Combine it. Most Sacred Valley tours visit Pisac, then continue to Urubamba and Ollantaytambo.
