Overview

See three of the East Coast’s biggest cities in two days on this small-group tour from Washington, D.C. Trace American history through Philadelphia, where the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall mark the birthplace of the nation, then head to New York for a guided run through the financial district, with Wall Street, the Charging Bull, Rockefeller Center, and the neon of Times Square, followed by a night tour that shows the city lit up after dark. The next day is yours to explore at your own pace, with optional skyline views at One World Trade Center, a Statue of Liberty cruise, and the aircraft-carrier museum of the U.S.S. Intrepid, plus the architectural Vessel and the floating Little Island park, before the return to Washington, D.C. A night’s hotel and round-trip transport are included.

Day by day itinerary

  1. 1Washington D.C.--Philadelphia--New York⌄

We set off from Washington, D.C. in the morning and drive north to Philadelphia, the “City of Brotherly Love,” tracing the road from the nation’s capital to the birthplace of American independence.

Step into what’s often called “the most historic square mile in America.” In a short visit you’ll see the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and the historic buildings around Independence Square, with its milky-white clock tower and bronze statues of the founding heroes set across the lawns.

If you’d like, ride to the top of One World Trade Center, the “Freedom Tower.” At 1,776 feet, a nod to the year the Declaration of Independence was signed, it’s the tallest building in the United States, and its Discovery Level offers 360-degree views over the city, the rivers, and the harbor.

New York City Fortune Tour and New York Twilight Tour: Continue into New York for a guided tour of the world’s financial capital, taking in the district’s landmarks by coach and on foot across four areas. You’ll pass the Canyon of Heroes and the historic Woolworth Building, then the heart of Wall Street at the New York Stock Exchange, Federal Hall, Trinity Church, and the famous Charging Bull. The route carries on to Rockefeller Center and the Diamond District, finishing among the Plaza Hotel, Times Square, and the Nasdaq MarketSite. All sites are viewed from the outside. New York Twilight Tour: As night falls, the city takes on a different character. Start in Midtown at Rockefeller Center, the Gothic St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the luxury storefronts of Fifth Avenue, then into Times Square for its full blaze of neon and billboards. The day ends at the New Jersey Observation Deck, with sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and the Hudson River.

New York City Fortune Tour: First Stop: Canyon of Heroes → Woolworth Building → 15 Park Row(the world’s tallest skyscraper between 1899-1901)→ The Porter Building → St. Paul’s Church → Telegraph Building Second Stop: Equitable Building → Trinity Church → Bank of New York → Federal Hall → New York Stock Exchange → Trump Building → Deutsche Bank → Charging Bull → Customs House → Standard Oil Building → Cunard Line HQ Third Stop: Pulitzer Fountain → Grand Army Plaza → Plaza Hotel

  2. 2New York City -- Washington D.C.⌄

Today we continue to explore the fashion capital of New York. The first stop is the World Trade Center Observation Deck, where you can have a bird’s eye view of New York City. Then take the Statue of Liberty cruise around the island to see the statue of freedom in all directions. Then we came to New York Internet celebrity Big Pinecone, which is like the crown jewel of Hudson Yards. Finally, we will check out New York’s new internet celebrity landmark, the Suspended Park. Then we ended our trip to New York and returned to Washington, DC. Itinerary: One World Trade Center Observatory (Optional, 70 mins) → Liberty Cruise (Optional, 60 mins) → U.S.S. Intrepid (Optional, 75 mins) → Hudson Yards - Vessel (Outside visit, 20 mins) → Little Island (25 mins) → Washington d.c.

Liberty Cruise (Optional, 60 mins): Start the day on the water with an optional harbor cruise. You’ll see the Statue of Liberty up close from the boat, along with skyline views of Manhattan and both banks of the Hudson that are hard to capture from land.

U.S.S. Intrepid (Optional, 75 mins): Step aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid, a legendary World War II aircraft carrier turned museum. Explore vintage military jets, a submarine, and hands-on exhibits that bring the lives of those who served vividly to life. The scale of the ship alone is worth the visit.

Even without climbing it, the Vessel at Hudson Yards is a striking sight, a honeycomb of interlocking staircases that New Yorkers nicknamed the “big pine cone.” Walking around the base gives a real sense of its scale and design.

Just along the waterfront is Little Island, New York’s newest park, floating above the Hudson on sculptural concrete “tulips.” Its winding paths and lush greenery make a refreshing contrast to the city streets and a unique view of the river.

From there it’s the drive back to Washington, D.C., wrapping up two days across three of the East Coast’s defining cities.
