Overview

This 3 days starter pack offers you a classical introduction to Ghana’s history and culture. Experience Ghana as the natives do, in its nearly undiluted naturalness, with memories worth repeating.

Explore the rich history and culture of the Ga people of Accra as you visit one of the fascinating communities of Accra-Jamestown. You will experience the contrast of this sprawling township with modern Accra. Travel through the coastal lands of Elmina and Cape Coast to see the infamous Cape Coast and Elmina Castles and Forts.

Crown your exploration with a visit to the Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s few surviving tropical rain forests and challenge yourself to complete the walk cross on the Tree-top Canopy walkway which offers you a picturesque view of the forests or choose a 2 km nature walk through the forest to discover the wide variety of butterflies, birds and exotic floral species and the medicinal values they offer

Day by day itinerary

  1. 1ARRIVAL IN ACCRA⌄

You'll arrive in Accra, be met and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, a city tour may begin that day, covering the University of Ghana's scenic campus in Legon, the historic James Town neighborhood with its colonial heritage, and the bustling Makola Market — Ghana's largest open-air market. The rest of the day is free for leisure or independent exploration.

    Overnight: Overnight at Pelican Hotel

  2. 2ACCRA-CAPE COAST-ELMINA⌄

After breakfast, you'll head from Accra to Cape Coast, stopping first at Independence Square to see the iconic Flame of African Liberation — lit by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in 1961 — then at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, his final resting place, where a museum chronicles his life and legacy. Arriving in Cape Coast for lunch, the afternoon brings a deeply moving visit to Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you'll tour the historic slave dungeons and the haunting "Door of No Return." The evening closes with a guided walk through the historic town of Elmina, ending at the harbor where colorful fishing canoes and departing fishermen create a vivid, photogenic scene.

A guided forest floor walk offers the chance to spot birds, butterflies, monkeys, and possibly the rare forest elephant. The highlight is Africa's only aerial canopy walkway — a 1,000-foot suspension bridge system spanning seven bridges and rising over 150 feet above the rainforest floor, delivering stunning treetop views. As an optional add-on, you can visit Global Mamas, a social enterprise empowering African women, where you'll participate in a hands-on tie-dye workshop and create your own souvenir cloth to take home.
