Overview

Dunhuang and Jiayuguan are well-known towns on the Silk Road, this private tour will let you explore Dunhuang and Jiayuguan from Shanghai by flight. The attractions you will visit include Mogao Caves, Singing Sand Dunes and Crescent Moon Spring, Dunhuang night market, Jiayuguan Fortress, Gobi desert and Dunhuang performance. It is very interesting to explore western China.

Day by day itinerary

  1. 1Shanghai to Jiayuguan by Flight⌄

    Tour operator

    You will be picked up by our representative from your centrally located Shanghai hotel, then transferred to the airport to catch a flight to Jiayuguan. Upon arrival, your guide will pick you up and transferred to visit the Wei and Jin Tombs if time permits.

    Overnight: Overnight in Jiayuguan Hotel or equivalent

  2. 2Jiayuguan to Dunhuang by Car⌄

    Visit the western end of the Ming Great Wall, Jiyuguan Fortress in the morning, and drive 5 hours to Dunhuang throug the Hexi Corridor and enjoy the imposing scenery of Qilian Mountians and Gobi Desert in the afternoon. Explore the well-known Dunhuang night market tonight.

  3. 3Dunhuang⌄

    Today you will visit the well-known Mogao Caves on the ancient Silk Road. Those caves are well-preserved with colorful frescoes and paintings created thousand years ago, but looks like they were finished just yesterday.

    Afterwards you willl explore the Singging Sand Dunes and Crescent Moon Spring, where you have opportunity to ride camel.

    Enjoy the Dunhuang performance in the evening.

  4. 4Dunhuang to Shanghai by Flight⌄

    If time permits, you will visit Dunhuang Museum(close on Monday), and then fly to back to Shanghai. Upon arrival. you will be transferred back to your Shanghai hotel where the tour concludes.
