Mehrangarh Fort, built by Rao Jodha in 1459, is one of the most magnificent forts in India, dominating the skyline of Jodhpur. Its name, “Mehrangarh,” translates to “Fort of the Sun,” symbolizing the Rathore clan’s mythical descent from Surya, the Sun God. Rising 400 feet above the city, the fort boasts grand gateways, ornate palaces, sprawling courtyards, and a remarkable museum. It stands as a true emblem of Rajput valor, heritage, and architectural brilliance, while offering breathtaking views of the Blue City.
Jaswant Thada, built in 1899 by Maharaja Sardar Singh in memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, is a stunning marble cenotaph in Jodhpur. Often called the “Taj Mahal of Marwar,” it features intricately carved marble latticework, delicate domes, and peaceful gardens. The cenotaph serves as the cremation ground for Jodhpur’s royal family and offers serene views of Mehrangarh Fort. Its architectural beauty and tranquil ambiance make it a must-visit heritage landmark.
