Day by day itinerary

  1. 1Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp⌄

    The trek begins at the Lemosho Gate with the help of your guides and porters. From there, you’ll hike through the rainforest to the Mti Mkubwa Camp, where you’ll spend the first night. This day will give you an introduction to the natural beauty of the mountain and allow you to gradually acclimatize to the altitude.

  2. 2Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira I Camp⌄

    You will continue your ascent to Shira I Camp. During this day, you will notice a change in the vegetation as you approach higher altitudes, while passing through the rainforest and into the heath and moorland zone. You’ll cross the Shira Ridge and hike to the Shira 1 Camp, where you’ll spend the night. You will enjoy breathtaking views as you hike the Shira Plateau and hike to the Shira 1 Camp, where you’ll spend the night.

  3. 3Shira I Camp to Shira II Camp⌄

    Today, you'll continue your ascent through the moorlands, with the landscape becoming increasingly rugged and barren. As you approach the Lent Hills, the trail becomes steeper, offering panoramic views of the Shira Plateau. After approximately five to seven hours of hiking, you'll reach Shira II Camp, where you'll spend the night.

  4. 4Shira II Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp⌄

    Today's trek takes you through the alpine desert, a vast and surreal landscape with little vegetation. After roughly seven to nine hours of hiking, you'll arrive at Barranco Camp, where you'll rest and prepare for the challenging Barranco Wall climb on the following day.

  5. 5Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp⌄

After approximately four to six hours of trekking, you'll reach Karanga Camp, nestled above a scenic valley.

After approximately three to five hours of hiking, you'll reach Barafu Camp, where you'll rest and prepare for the summit night.

  7. 7Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp⌄

    This is the challenging and most rewarding day of the trek awaits. You'll start your ascent in the mid night hour, making your way to Stella Point and finally reaching the majestic Uhuru Peak. Standing at the highest point in Africa (5,895m), is an indescribable feeling of accomplishment. After celebrating your achievement, you'll descend to Mweka Camp, where you'll spend the night.

  8. 8Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate⌄

Upon reaching the gate, you'll receive your well-deserved certificate of achievement and bid farewell to the magical Mount Kilimanjaro.
