Day by day itinerary
1Arrival in Zanzibar⌄
Upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport, you will be welcomed by the driver and transferred to your hotel. Relax and unwind after your journey. Accommodation will be provided upon customer request.
2Stone Town & Prison Island⌄
Begin your journey in Stone Town, the cultural heart of Zanzibar. With a local guide, walk through narrow winding alleys and lively markets as you uncover the island’s multicultural past. Visit the House of Wonders, Old Fort, and the Anglican Cathedral, built on the site of the former slave market. Pass by ornate Zanzibari doors, local spice shops, and historic squares as you hear stories of sultans, merchants, and explorers who shaped Zanzibar’s identity.
After the walking tour, head to the shore and board a traditional wooden boat for a short sail to Prison Island (also known as Changuu Island). Originally used as a place for rebellious slaves and later as a quarantine station, today the island is famous for its giant Aldabra tortoises, some over 150 years old. Explore the small historical prison ruins, relax on the white sandy beach, or snorkel in the crystal-clear waters surrounding the island.
3Spice Farm and Cooking Class⌄
Experience a guided tour of a Zanzibar spice farm and discover the history and uses of local spices. Learn about cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, cloves, lemongrass, ginger, pepper, and more, and how they shape traditional Swahili cuisine. Taste and smell freshly harvested spices, sample tropical fruits like mango, papaya, pineapple, and avocado, and learn about their culinary and medicinal uses. Join a hands-on cooking class with a local chef. Harvest fresh vegetables and spices, then use traditional techniques to prepare a classic Swahili meal. Enjoy the food you’ve cooked and discover how Zanzibari cooking has been passed down through generations, using authentic methods and tools. This is a fun and educational experience for food lovers and culture enthusiasts alike.
