Overview

Flores Island is one of the solitary islands formed by the collision of the Indo-Australian and Eurasian tectonic plates millions of years ago, making Flores part of the Ring of Fire. One of the unique and still-active volcanoes is Mount Kelimutu. Mount Kelimutu is located within Kelimutu National Park. What makes this volcano unique is its three-colored lakes, surrounded by Sokoria forests that are home to endemic flora and fauna.

In addition to the three-colored lakes of Kelimutu, the indigenous communities living around Kelimutu National Park are a cultural attraction well worth visiting. They believe that Kelimutu is the place of the spirits of the dead.

Day by day itinerary

  1. 1Ende Airport - Driving to Moni⌄

    Your guide will welcoming you at Ende Airport. Driving east of Flores through dramatic valleys and cliffs. Beautiful panorama of rice terrace. Walking to the river in Detusoko

    After that, visit Wologai Traditional Village 800-year-old traditional village that was burned down in 2012 which is occupied by the indigenous Lio ethnic community.

    Stay and overnight in Moni area

  2. 2Kelimutu Sunrise - Murundao Waterfall - Blue Stone Beach - Ende⌄

    Wake up early morning before sunrise, wearing a jacket and bring flashlight. Take a short drive to Kelimutu National Park and continue walking about 30 minutes to the view point. Enjoying the sunrise instantly opens the horizon and the tricolor lake Kelimutu is visible. Travel through the arboretum to find out what types of plants are in the Kelimutu National Park area. Trekking 1 hour through the community plantation and arrive at the Moni. Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, clean up and check out. Return to Ende

    Visit Murundao waterfall in Moni

    Driving 2 hours to the south coast and stop in Blue stone Beach

    Drive back to Ende. Enjoy the sunset from Kota Raha Beach.
