Day by day itinerary

1. 1Tbilisi to Shiraki & Black Mountain⌄

   Your adventure begins with pickup from your accommodation in Tbilisi and a transfer to the Shiraki region, where you’ll meet your local guides and horses and prepare for the journey ahead. Begin riding through the open Shiraki pastures before climbing towards Black Mountain, the highest point in the region. From the ridge, enjoy sweeping views across the Alazani River, the Caucasus Mountains and the vast landscapes of Vashlovani National Park. After approximately 5–6 hours in the saddle, arrive at your campsite. Help settle the horses, enjoy dinner surrounded by nature and spend your first night camping beneath the stars.

2. 2Mountain Ridges & Alazani River⌄

   After breakfast at camp, saddle up for another full day of riding. Follow dramatic mountain ridges before gradually descending towards the Alazani River, which forms part of the natural border between Georgia and Azerbaijan. As you ride, watch the landscape transform into Vashlovani’s distinctive sandstone cliffs, dry valleys and semi-desert terrain. Your local guides will lead you through remote trails and share their knowledge of the landscape and region. After approximately 5–6 hours of riding, arrive at Mijniskure, where you’ll set up camp for the night.

3. 3Remote Valleys & Hidden Landscapes⌄

   Wake up surrounded by wilderness before heading deeper into Vashlovani National Park. Today’s ride takes you through some of the park’s most remote landscapes, following winding riverbeds, valleys and trails beneath towering cliffs. There will be opportunities throughout the day to stop, rest, take photographs and enjoy the extraordinary scenery. Spend approximately 5–6 hours riding before arriving at your next wilderness campsite for dinner and another night beneath the stars.

4. 4Open Plains & Wild Meadow⌄

   Today you’ll experience the vast open spaces that make Vashlovani such an incredible destination to explore on horseback. Ride across expansive meadows and plains, where the open terrain provides opportunities for longer canters and gallops for experienced riders when conditions allow. For beginners we ride to your comfort level. Along the way, keep watch for Vashlovani’s wildlife, including wild goats, horses and the many bird species found throughout the national park. After approximately 5–6 hours in the saddle, arrive at your final wilderness campsite, enjoy dinner together and settle in for your last night under the stars.

5. 5Final Ridge Ride & Return to Tbilisi⌄

   After breakfast, saddle up for your final ride through Vashlovani. Follow elevated ridgelines with panoramic views across the national park, including its dramatic cliffs, winding valleys and seemingly endless plains. Complete the final section of the journey before returning the horses to their pastures and saying goodbye to your local riding team. From here, travel by vehicle back to Tbilisi, where you’ll be dropped off at your specified accommodation, bringing your five-day horseback journey through Vashlovani National Park to an end.
