This journey offers a unique window into the lives of those inhabiting a remote village located within the Nuratau Mountains range. As you traverse the rustic landscapes, you’ll be afforded the remarkable opportunity to intimately acquaint yourself with the daily livelihood activities that shape the existence of the local community.

Day by day itinerary

  1. 1Bukhara to Ukhum village⌄

    At 9:00 AM, meet with our driver and be transferred to Uhum village. You will arrive in the village by lunchtime and settle in the homestay. After lunch, you may explore the village on your own and get to know about the life of local people or just relax on tapchan (wooden platform) under the walnut trees. In the afternoon, there is an option to participate in the preparation of traditional dish Plov, made from homegrown vegetables and mountain spices.

  2. 2Morning hike in Ukhum then transfer to Samarkand⌄

    After breakfast, start an easy guided hike to the Nuratau Nature Reserve (3.5-4 hours/ 4 km). Visit a petroglyph site, ancient irrigation channels, and the mausoleum of Islamic priests. Walking up through the village, you may see locals going about their daily activities (collecting firewood, harvesting, butter making, corn grinding, spinning, weaving, etc). Return to the homestay for lunch with your host family.

    After lunch, you say goodbye to your hosts and return to Samarkand. The journey takes 4 hours. Our driver will drop you at your hotel or at the tour ending point.

Good to know

Starts: The meeting point is at the statue of Khoja Naseriddin (man on donkey) which is located near Lyabi Haus Pool. Please look for our driver holding a sign with our company name.

Ends: At the end of your tour, you will be dropped at the parking lot of Gur-Emir Mausoleum in Samarkand. We will drop you at your hotel if the total number of participants in a group is less than 6 persons.
