Overview

Follow your friendly, English-speaking cycling guide through two of northern Thailand’s most beautiful valleys: Mae Taeng and Chiang Dao. Along the way, discover caves, waterfalls, temples, lush rice paddies, plantations, and stunning mountain scenery.

Just enjoy the ride—your guide takes care of the rest. With two nights at a comfortable countryside boutique hotel, you can skip the daily commute to Chiang Mai and unwind amid the peaceful surroundings.

Day by day itinerary

  1. 1Cycling exploration of the Mae Taeng valley⌄

Meeting place, unless pick-up at your hotel within the city limit.

Arriving at base camp. Bike fitting. We set off for a 15km loop in the valley to explore local culture and sights to discover. Lunch then a second cycling loop, more challenging, will explore the valley deeper.

We ride trails and small roads in the area surrounding the scenic Mae Ngat Dam, part of the Sri Lanna National Park.

Cycle unused trails through rice fields, eventually ending at the stunning Wat Ban Den. Take some times to stroll the Temple ground. Then either we cycle or transfer back to the hotel for overnight.

Meals: Lunch: Thai set lunch · Dinner: Thai set dinner at hotel

Overnight: Le Cocotier Resort or similar (Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai)

  2. 2Cycling and explore the Chiang Dao valley⌄

Vehicle transfer (40 min) to Chiang Dao, for today's exploration. We set off on undulating small paved road and off road trails trough plantations and forest.

Ride to the Chiang Dao Caves and Buddhist sanctuary, where you’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, take time to explore the caves’ main section. If you’d like to venture deeper, you can hire a local guide and lamp on the spot for an additional fee. Then hop back on your bike and continue discovering the beautiful valley.

Our next stop is a small Karen village and a nearby hot spring. If you wish, enjoy a soak in a traditional local hot bath before continuing the ride.

Pedal along quiet country roads to a local market, where you can pause to soak up the atmosphere and celebrate the end of your ride. Then meet your driver for a relaxing 40-minute transfer back to your hotel in Mae Taeng.

  3. 3Cycle the Mae Taeng valley and waterfalls⌄

Afternoon, we transfer by vehicle to the waterfalls. You can walk down a stair case to the bottom of the fall, then climb up through the waterfall. After relaxation, we'll drive you back to Chiang Mai.
