Day by day itinerary

  1. 1Bangkok Arrival and Welcome Dinner⌄

    Check in Montien Hotel Surawong or other same level hotel and relax at the hotel.

    A collection of traditional Thai teak houses surrounded by tropical gardens. The museum introduces the life of Jim Thompson and his contribution to the revival of Thailand’s silk industry. Selected departures hold the welcome reception and dinner here.

  2. 2Bangkok → Ayutthaya → Uthai Thani⌄

    Begin the rail journey at Bangkok’s historic railway station. Opened in 1916, the station is recognised for its arched façade, stained-glass windows and European-influenced architecture. Guests receive a ceremonial welcome before boarding The Blue Jasmine.

    Explore the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam by traditional tuk-tuk. The UNESCO-listed historical area contains ancient temples, Buddha images, stupas and archaeological ruins dating from the 14th to the 18th centuries.

    Enjoy lunch in a peaceful traditional Thai setting surrounded by lotus ponds, gardens and wooden architecture.

    Continue through Thailand’s central plains towards peaceful Uthai Thani. On arrival, check in at a restored heritage hotel before enjoying dinner.

  3. 3Uthai Thani and Overnight Train to Chiang Mai⌄

    Uthai Thani Morning Market:A traditional local market selling fruit, vegetables, prepared food and regional products. Guests collect offerings before participating in the morning alms-giving ritual.

    Morning Alms-Giving Experience, Sakae Krang Riverside. Participate respectfully in a traditional Buddhist merit-making ritual by presenting food offerings to local monks, sometimes arriving by boat along the river.

    Also known as Wat Chantharam, this extensive Buddhist complex is home to the celebrated Crystal Temple and Golden Castle. Mirrored pillars illuminate the Crystal Hall, while the Golden Castle displays elaborate ornamentation and numerous Buddhist images.

    Sakae Krang River>Cruise along the river aboard a traditional rice barge while enjoying lunch. The journey passes wooden riverside houses, floating communities, small gardens and scenes of everyday local life.

  4. 4Chiang Mai and Lanna Heritage⌄

    Chiang Mai Railway Station, Arrive in Chiang Mai after breakfast aboard the train. Transfer to the hotel for early check-in and time to rest.

    Chiang Mai Old City, Explore the historic centre of the former Lanna Kingdom. The Old City is surrounded by a square moat and sections of its original walls and contains temples, markets and traditional neighbourhoods.

    Visit one of Northern Thailand’s most sacred temples. The mountain complex is known for its golden chedi, naga staircase, Lanna architecture and panoramic views over Chiang Mai.

    Known as the Silver Temple, Wat Sri Suphan is decorated with detailed silver-coloured metalwork created by artisans from Chiang Mai’s traditional Wua Lai silversmith community.

  5. 5Mae Taeng Elephants and Chiang Mai Highlands⌄

    Visit an elephant-care centre in the forested Mae Taeng countryside. Learn about elephant welfare, prepare food and observe the animals in a natural environment.

    Return to Chiang Mai for leisure time. Guests may relax at the hotel or explore nearby shops, cafés and local markets independently.

    Travel into the mountains for sunset views and a private classical music performance. Enjoy farm-to-table dishes while musicians and vocalists perform in a secluded natural setting.

  6. 6Chiang Mai to Si Satchanalai⌄

    Travel south from Chiang Mai through Lamphun, Lampang, Phrae and Uttaradit. Enjoy views of forested mountains, valleys, railway bridges, rural communities and farmland.

    Pass through one of the best-known historic tunnels on Thailand’s Northern Railway Line. The tunnel cuts through the Khun Tan mountain range between Lamphun and Lampang.

    Disembark from the train and continue by road through the countryside towards Si Satchanalai in Sukhothai Province.

    Visit an important temple in the ancient settlement of Chaliang. Its architecture combines Khmer-influenced features with later artistic styles from the Sukhothai Kingdom.

    Enjoy an open-air barbecue in the garden of a restored heritage residence beside the Yom River. Traditional Thai music and dance accompany the evening meal.

  7. 7Si Satchanalai and Overnight Train to Bangkok⌄

    Explore the UNESCO-listed historical area by bicycle or shuttle vehicle. The park preserves temples, monasteries, city walls and archaeological remains from the Sukhothai Kingdom.

    The temple’s name means “Temple Surrounded by Elephants.” Its principal bell-shaped chedi stands above a base decorated with projecting elephant sculptures.

    One of the park’s most architecturally diverse complexes, containing more than 30 stupas influenced by Sukhothai, Sri Lankan and Khmer artistic traditions.

    Learn about Sawankhalok and celadon ceramics, for which the region became internationally recognised between the 13th and 15th centuries. Guests participate in painting or decorating a ceramic bowl.

    Return to the railway station and board The Blue Jasmine. Enjoy sunset drinks and dinner before travelling overnight towards Bangkok.

    Cruise along Bangkok’s principal river, passing historic neighbourhoods, traditional waterfront communities and temple-lined riverbanks.

    Celebrate the conclusion of the journey at a private riverside residence composed of restored traditional Thai houses complemented by contemporary design.
