Overview

Take an overnight trip from Dublin to tour the stunning countryside of Connemara and Galway. The trip takes you through the breathtaking scenery of Connemara's lakes, mountains, stone walls and thatched cottages.

Day by day itinerary

  1. 1Dublin - Limerick- Bunratty Castle - The Cliffs of Moher - Galway⌄

We visit Bunratty Castle and admission is included. The castle was completed in 1425 and, after many years of neglect, has been restored to its former glory. There is also a folk park here and some of the buildings in the village were dismantled at various locations in the region and rebuilt brick by brick at their present location. Even the 18th century church was relocated to its present position using this method!

The Cliffs of Moher are among the highest sea cliffs in Europe. There is plenty of time to visit Ireland’s second most popular tourist attraction and your host will advise you of the departure time.

We take the coast road for much of the way to Galway, with time for photos along The Burren. This is a national park and the word Burren comes from the Irish Language –it means ‘rocky place’. Today the Burren is noted for its diverse Flora with few parallels elsewhere in Ireland or indeed, Europe. As time permits, we will make a short stop here for photographs.

Overnight: Overnight in Galway city centre at a 3*/4* hotel

  2. 2Connemara - Kylemore Abbey - Dublin:⌄

We pass through Maam Cross – The Connemara Crossroads – where we turn right towards the village of Maam and then down the Maam Valley to the village of Leenane where we have a coffee stop in this tiny village at the head of Ireland’s only Fjord, Killary Harbour.

We pass through the Gaeltacht villages of Inverin and Spiddal and looking out across the blue waters of the Atlantic at the unique lime-stone of the Burren and the hills of Clare. In Spiddal there is a craft village and the Standun sweater shop.

We stop at Kylemore Abbey and gardens which is our lunch stop. If you wish to visit the Abbey and Gardens there is a reduced admission charge, (your driver will advise).

Meals: Breakfast: You will receive breakfast in your 3*/4* hotel
