The eTA
- Apply only on the official website, etakenya.go.ke; copycat sites charge extra.
- Each traveller, including children, needs their own eTA.
- Apply at least two weeks ahead, longer in the July to October peak.
- Citizens of some East African countries don't need one for short visits.
Malaria and other health risks
Malaria is present in most safari areas and on the coast, with higher risk during and after the rains. Nairobi, at about 1,700 m, has low risk. Ask a doctor about tablets, and use repellent and long sleeves at dusk.
