The short answer
- Season
- May to September
- From Sigiriya
- About 2.5 hours to Trincomalee
- Snorkelling
- Pigeon Island, off Nilaveli
- Surf
- Arugam Bay, about April to October
The east coast was off the tourist trail for years, and it still feels quieter than the south. Its season is the opposite of the south coast's, which makes it the answer to a summer trip to Sri Lanka.
