Nine Arches Bridge, Ella

Kandy and the hill country

Built in the early 1900s and made entirely of stone, brick and cement, the Nine Arches Bridge carries the hill country railway across a jungle ravine. Watching a train curve across it is one of the classic Sri Lanka moments.
